What TriggerCheck is
TriggerCheck is a community content warning database for movies and TV shows. Users can look up titles, view community-submitted warnings, and submit their own. This policy explains what data we collect and how it is used.
Data we collect
- Account data. If you create an account, we store your email address. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plaintext. Account creation is optional — you can browse all warnings without an account.
- Submitted content. Warnings you submit (category, severity, and optional detail text) are stored in our database and shown publicly on the relevant movie or TV show page.
- Votes. If you upvote or downvote a warning, that vote is linked to your account to prevent duplicate voting.
- Usage data. We use Vercel Analytics to track page views and general traffic patterns. This data is aggregated and does not identify individual users.
How we use your data
- To display community-submitted warnings on movie and TV show pages
- To associate votes with accounts so each user can only vote once per warning
- To send account-related emails (password reset, email verification)
- To understand general usage patterns and improve the site
We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with third parties for advertising purposes.
Cookies and tracking
TriggerCheck uses session cookies to keep you logged in. We use Vercel Analytics for anonymous traffic measurement. Google AdSense may serve ads on this site; Google's use of advertising cookies is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of personalized advertising at google.com/settings/ads.
Third-party services
- Supabase — database and authentication hosting.
- TMDB (The Movie Database) — movie and TV show metadata including titles, posters, and descriptions. TriggerCheck is not affiliated with TMDB.
- Vercel — hosting and analytics.
- Google AdSense — advertising.
Your rights
You can delete your account at any time from your profile page. This removes your account data. Warnings you submitted will remain in the database but will no longer be linked to your account. To request full removal of submitted content, contact us at the email below.
Children
TriggerCheck is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
